Ralph Slater graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University in 1975. He graduated Cum Laude from Loyola Law School, where he served on the Board of Editors of the Loyola Law School of Los Angeles Law Review. He was admitted as a lifetime member of the National Jesuit Honor Society based on his academic and other accomplishments in national college debate and public speaking.

After being admitted to the California State Bar in 1979, Mr. Slater began his practice as a Personal Injury Trial Lawyer while an associate for the then leading Plaintiff Personal Injury Law Firm in Los Angeles County. The law firm was well known for handling cases involving serious and catastrophic injuries; and wrongful deaths resulting from motor vehicle accidents, dangerous products, airline disasters, and other aircraft accidents.

In 1982, Mr. Slater opened his own successful personal injury practice in Los Angeles. A well-respected physician-attorney later joined Mr. Slater, and they worked in close association with one another for 22 years. In addition to his accomplishments as a practicing Attorney, Mr. Slater served for many years as a Court-appointed Arbitrator on the Personal Injury Panel of the California Superior Court of Los Angeles County, and he also served as a volunteer Legal Ethics Mediator for the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Additionally, he has authored publications in his field.

Mr. Slater is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California and the Association of Justice (formerly known as the American Trial Lawyers Association), where he networks with leading trial attorneys across the nation on a myriad of legal issues, investigations of various dangerous products, use of modern trial techniques, and the presentation of new forms of evidence.

He has always served whatever community he has lived in. He was a Boy Scouts of America Parent Leader and a Little League baseball coach for many years. He became certified as an Advanced AYSO Soccer Coach, an AYSO Soccer Referee, and was licensed as a Club Soccer coach, while coaching youth soccer from 1986 to 2000, inclusive. After that, he worked as a volunteer helping disabled adults for 10 years. He has done pro bono legal work throughout his career.
